Oblivion

Oblivion opened in 1998 as the worlds first vertical drop coaster, and brought with it the new land X-Sector. During its construction the ride area was fenced off and little was given away except for signs telling guests that a new worlds first would be coming to the spot next year. The actual drop was also left as the last piece of track to go in to make sure nobody would know what the ride was ahead of schedule.

Although many coasters now feature a vertical drop, in-fact some even feature track that will tilt to move you into the vertical position, Oblivion still remains to have one of the most thrilling vertical drops around. Its design of dropping you into a mist covered hole greatly adds to the excitement as I have always found a ride to be far more thrilling when you cant see where it is going to go.
