Nemesis is by far Alton Tower's most successful coaster. Opening in 1994, Nemesis was the second inverted coaster from manufacturer B&M to be built (the first being Top Gun at Paramount's Great America) a ride that has proved a huge success over the years and changed peoples mental image of what a coaster and coaster track looks like.
Since its opening Nemesis has built up a reputation as being one of the best coasters in the world and still manages to get into the top 10 of world coaster polls as to which is the best.
One of the things that have made the ride so successful is the shear speed that you travel around it causing a huge amount of intensity that lasts from the very beginning to end. A second thing that the ride is more known for though is its theming. Many coasters are just plonked down on a piece of concrete, but due to the height restrictions at Alton Towers, Nemesis had to be placed in a big hole, the sides of which were carved to be as close to the ride as possible. In the centre of the ride sits the station amazingly themed as the monster Nemesis.
For the best ride we recommend you either sit in the very front row or as far to the back as possible. If you're not feeling up for such an intense ride sit towards the front of the train more.
