ALTON TOWERS NET

Gloomy wood first opened in 1992 featuring the ride The Haunted House. Its location is half way between Katanga Canyon and Forbidden Valley and completely surrounded by trees. This fact really adds to the area, as it is very small consisting of only 1 ride, a gift shop and food kiosk. Being a haunted theme it works very well being secluded from the rest of the park where nobody can here you scream so to speak.

In 2003 The Haunted House was given a re-vamp and became Duel: The Haunted House Strikes Back. Essentially most of the ride stayed the same except the trains now had laser guns added to the seats and the ride was covered with targets to be shot. Your hit count would be recorded and would now show on the ride photo as well as on a panel in front of where you site.
