Bone Shaker

Bone Shaker has to be one of my most missed rides out of the ones that have been removed from Alton Towers since I started going there. What really made the ride special was the simplicity of it. You had to arms with a gondola in the middle, so it looked a bit like Ripsaw but with the difference that you faced to the side and only had lap bars. The gondola also swung feely and each arm could rotate independently, so you could have one end in the air and the other on the ground. What this all resulted in was a ride that could produce serious amounts of airtime, and an intense sensation when the gondola would swing right up with only a lap restraint holding you in.

Towards the end of its life Bone Shaker was run on less intense settings and queue's started reduce in numbers. This however was the time I actually got my first ride on it so I can only imagine how much better it must have been prior to this.

An excellent ride that's well missed.

History

Before arriving in UG Land in 2001, Bone Shaker had actually been operating at the park since 1995 under the name of Energizer.

When it first opened in 1995 it was located in Festival Park which is the area that was turned into UG Land so it did sort of end up just where it started. From 1998 - 2000 however it operated in X-Sector before being replaced by Submission.
