Forbidden Valley

Originally called Thunder Valley this area first opened in 1990 with Thunder Looper, a ride that would launch people through a loop up a slope before the train reveres back again and did it all backwards. Until 1992 this was the only ride in the area when The Beast and Beastie were relocated to the area.

In 1994 the area took on its current name as Forbidden Valley due to the opening of Nemesis, Europe's first and the Worlds second Inverted coaster. The area also received its amazing amount of themeing that sets the scene that all things aren't quite right and you've landed in the middle of a war zone where both sides are not human.

In 1997 Thunder Looper left the park due to the amount of noise it was inflicting on the local residents of Alton and in its place came Ripsaw (a Huss Top Spin ride) and Blade (a Huss Pirate Ship ride). In 2001 the area saw its next addition in the form of Dynamo (a Huss Breakdance 3 ride) however this would only stay until the end of the 2003 season.

2002 saw the opening on another major ride for Alton Towers with Air, the UK's first flying coaster and the worlds first flying coaster from manufacturer B&M. Despite being bright blue and not fitting in with the rest of Forbidden Valley, Air is an amazing ride that should not be missed.
